“At the Heart of the Community with the Community at its Heart”

Outreach Programs

Trinity in the Community (T’nC) believes that Trinity Church, which draws its members from all over Akron and surrounding communities, cannot and must not separate itself from the neighborhood in which it is located. Therefore, we follow literally the advice of James in Chapter 2, verse 17 where he says: “it isn’t enough just to have faith. You must do good to prove you have it.”

Clothing2The T’nC Clothing Room is open the last Wednesday of each month from 1:00 until 2:30 PM. The Clothing Room relies heavily on donated clothing and shoes and serves the needs for men, women and children who reside in the 44310 zip code area. In addition, new blankets, towels, socks and underwear as well as donated household items are made available when possible. The Clothing Room serves, on average, 35 neighborhood families each month.

Clothing for children is provided through Trinity’s Empowering Scholars Program. During the back to school season, we provide school uniforms to children residing in area shelters as part of the Project Rise Program of the Akron Public Schools. New socks, underwear and packets of school supplies as well as gently used clothing and shoes are available for children in need.

During the winter months, one of the greatest needs is for coats for persons of all ages. Gently used coats for men, women and children are provided as available.

Info Line refers clients to us for food orders, which include an Acme voucher to purchase perishables. We provide about 24 food boxes each month.

Christmas food boxes containing a ham, canned goods and all food items needed for a dinner are provided for about 20 families each year. Our Trinity Scout Troop also collects canned goods for this project. Candy wreaths made by church members are also included. Children of these families are each given two toys or gifts provided by our Trinity family as well as hats, scarves and mittens knitted by our members and friends.

Contact the church office if you would like to participate in this worthy project.

Please note that T’nC provides food and clothing for those in need who reside in the 44310 zip code.
